    No full text
Numerous ways to use recycled asphalt (RA) in the road base course will provide both environmental and economic benefits, allowing to recycle and utilise this initially waste material in road or pavement reconstruction projects. However, the properties and parameters of RA necessary for the application of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in a new pavement structure in most cases are not detectable in the design stage, which complicates design and construction process. The purpose of this paper is to study possibilities for evaluating the performance and parameters of RA, as well as to review the possibilities, methods and applications for RA testing. Data for this case study were obtained from recently completed road structures in the form of FWD measurements, together with lab explored parameters of drilled pavement cores. Based on that data, the relationships between the main pavement structural parameters, such as modulus on the surface of the pavement, compressive strength of RA core segment, thickness of bound layers and back calculated modulus were examined. On the way to exploring different analytical approaches, two approximation models were developed and compared, using the obtained data: by directly approximating the obtained data and after processing them with artificial neural network (ANN)

Traffic safety can be defined as the quality of driving task outcome, which in its turn depends on factors within the system “Driver–Vehicle–Road”. Therefore, if analyzing concept of traffic safety from viewpoint of driving task, it must include relationships following from interactions among all the system elements. To understand these relationships and fix essential factors and elements, which must be taken into account, when making design solution or analyzing it, the system model was established. Based on this model the system functioning was analyzed. Results obtained explain importance of content and quality of information in sources from which driver obtains it for decision making. It was also established, that visual road image is the main information source for decision making in situation, where the traffic flow influence is small. Therefore, content and quality of this information, contained in road image, visible for driver, is formed and must be checked during design process

The Dynamic Approach to Evaluation of Visual Road Image

The motor road visual quality, which includes such basic categories, as visual clearness and fluency, in conformity with earlier investigations, has an essential significance in the driver's information perception. The managerial decision taken by the driver depends on its result and, hence, on the traffic safety, too. To secure the road visual depiction, adequate to the situation, it is necessary to perform a visual analysis the designed motor road alignment. Up to now, the described road visual analysis methods have been based on evaluating the static perspective image elements, which do not correspond to the real perception process in case of a car driving. This work describes the opportunity of the dynamic, corresponding to real perception circumstances, visual quality evaluation. The method anticipates the image line evaluation according to the visual fluency criterion, when the image changes corresponding to the observation point location, in the real car movement case. The method is checked by the optimization solution example following the visual quality criterion corresponding to the given road parameters

Klientu apkalpošanas platformu paredzēta kā koplietojuma platforma valsts un nekustamo īpašumu apsaimniekotajiem, tā izvietošana paredzēta valsts nozīmes digitālajos datu centrā. Izpētes daļā autors apzināja valsts un pašvaldības nekustamo īpašumu apsaimniekotāju klientu apkalpošanas procesiem, to problēmām. Maģistra darba autors piedāvā izveidot vienotu klientu apkalpošanas sistēmas platformas ieviešanu atvērtā koda platformā. Turpmāk maģistra darbā autors izmantos terminoloģiju – klientu apkalpošanas platforma. Risinājums tiek izveidots projekta veidā. Maģistra darbs sastāv no 81 lapām, tas sastāv no 3 nodaļām, 23 Attēliem, 12 tabulām, 36. pielikumiem. The aim of the master's thesis "customer service system implementation (CRM) digitalization platform for real estate operators" is to create a single platform that ensures customer service, customer data collection, and communication with the managers of the client's state and local government intangible assets. The customer service platform is intended as a shared platform for state and real estate managers, its deployment is planned in digital data centers of national importance. In the research part, the author identified the customer service processes of state and municipal real estate managers, their problems. The author of the master's thesis proposes to create a unified implementation of the customer service system platform on an open source platform. In the future, the author will use the terminology - customer service platform. The solution is created in the form of a project. The master's thesis consists of 81 pages, it consists of 3 chapters, 23 Figures, 12 tables, 36 appendices

    Traffic Safety and Driver’s Psychophysiology

Road existence is determined by the necessity of the transport communication. The main function of the motorroad as an engineer construction is safe traffic. To a great extent this is guaranteed by observation of the parameters included in the design standards, regulations and other normative papers. In most of the mentioned cases the parameters are motivated by their physics-governed nature and therefore they can ensure safety only from the point of view of mechanical interaction between the road and a car. At the same time there is a series of physiological, psychological and esthetic regularities which will definitely impact the traffic safety on roads as long as a driver - human being is in charge of driving and which are not evaluated as arguments in the above mentioned paper

Heavy Load Impact on Low Volume Road Pavement

Latvian low volume roads and particular – their pavements shows serious problems in form of cracking, rutting, other deformations and which finally leads to weak serviceability and short lifetime of the road structure. In many cases these problems has been associated with heavy goods transport, overloaded vehicles and their impact. To find the role of heavy loads, and in particular - timber haulage transport, on road pavement deformations and evaluate their prevention possibilities, as well as to investigate the efficiency of freight transport, and establish conditions that will allow to do it, a study is carried out in Riga Technical university in cooperation with Latvian State Forests SC. As option for load impact reducing, the Central Tire Inflate system (CTI), installed on the test car, is being checked. The research methodology is based on deflection measurements with LWD together with dielectric constant measurements in a road structure using percometer. Measurements are taken in the various pavement structure layers in different depths, during full-scale loading and in different moisture/temperature conditions. Increase of the contact surface is established using the CTI, which was installed on the test car. An advisable intensity and load for heavy traffic according to road conditions will be set during the study

Unbounded pavements shows serious problems in the form of rutting and other deformations, which finally lead to weak serviceability and damage of the road structure after intensive exploitation periods. Traditionally, these problems have been associated with heavy goods transport, overloaded vehicles and their impact. To find the specific damaging factors causing road pavement deformations and evaluate their prevention possibilities, and establish conditions that will allow doing it, the study was carried out. The tire pressure has been set as the main factor of load. Two different tire pressures have been used in tests and their impacts were compared. The comparison was done using deflection measurements with LWD together with dielectric constant measurements in a road structure using percometer. Measurements were taken in the upper pavement structure layers at different depths during full-scale loading and in different moisture/temperature conditions. Advisable load intensity and load factors for heavy traffic according to road conditions were set based on the study results
